Following their contact last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas natives Noah Gragson and Riley Herbst did have a conversation.
On Lap 5 of the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, Gragson made contact with the back of Herbst, sending the youngster up into the wall. Virtue of the Damage Vehicle Policy, the No. 18 was credited with a 36th-place finish.
Following the ARCA Menards Series Dawn 150 at Kansas Speedway on Friday, Herbst told POPULAR SPEED the pair spoke about the contact.
“We talked on the phone a little bit,” he told POPULAR SPEED. “I don’t know. It’s kind of agree to disagree about the situation. We’ll move on to Kansas tomorrow and see how that race unfolds.”
Through 16 races this season, Herbst has posted two top-five’s and eight top-10’s with Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He scored a third-place finish in Friday’s ARCA event.
Meanwhile, Gragson was credited with a 30th-place finish last week at Texas after he got into the wall; he had ran inside the top-10 until the contact. The JR Motorsports driver has two wins and eight top-five’s through 16 races, but certainly has made things interesting as the incident with Herbst wasn’t his first of the year. He has also crossed paths with Myatt Snider and his own teammate Justin Allgaier, with getting into a post-race brawl with Harrison Burton.
His team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. was critical of him on the Texas race broadcast, but stated that’s just part of the job on the Dale Jr. Download this past week.
